Attendance Procedures
Attendance is essential for successful learning. Students who attend school regularly can expect to reach a higher level of achievement. However, a child who is ill should not be in school. There are also other circumstances when an absence may be necessary, but every student should attend school every day he or she possibly can. Students are expected to make up work they miss during an absence and should communicate with teachers, counselors and classmates regarding schoolwork. In the event of a prolonged illness please contact your student’s counselor and the high school nurse.
How to Submit an Absence or Late Arrival
-
Log In: Enter your child's student ID number and last name.
-
Select Report Type: Choose Absence, Late Arrival, or Early Dismissal.
-
Provide Details: Select the date, state the reason, and attach a supporting note or documentation if applicable.
-
Confirmation: Enter the email address where you would like your confirmation receipt sent.
Important Note on Attendance Notes: Please ensure supporting documentation is submitted in a timely manner. If a note is not received within the required timeframe, the absence will be recorded as unexcused, which may affect your child's eligibility for make-up work and course credit.
Verification Letter Requests
Should you require a verification letter for your student, please email your request to the attendance office at hsattendance@lbeach.org. Letters cannot be faxed or emailed as they are stamped with an official seal therefore will have to be given to your student or picked up
